Picture dictation exercises for competitions

Picture dictation is a good listening and comprehension activity for students. It makes a great school competition idea. I have made some easy to use and download pictures with the dictation sentences. The students would just need a paper and a pen or pencil to be able to draw these images. The instructions are simple. Students listen to the dictation and draw the pictures. The most accurate representation of the dictation is declared as the winner. Teachers can download the pictures and copy the dictation sentences. These resources are designed to help School teachers prepare for the picture dictation competition.

Dictation sentences:

1. Draw a house with a triangular roof and a rectangular door.
2. The house has two square windows.
3. Next to the house, draw a tree with a few branches.
4. Above the house, draw a circle for the sun.
5. Make sure the sun looks happy in the sky.
6. In front of the house, draw a sitting cat.
7. The cat is simple, with a round body and pointy ears.

Dictation sentences:

1. Draw a big tree with a wide trunk and several branches.
2. The branches are empty without any leaves.
3. Under the tree, draw a straight-lined bench.
4. Above the tree, draw a half-circle for the moon.

6. Make sure the tree looks tall and strong.
7. The bench is simple, just a place to sit under the tree.
